When and why did you start training for fighting? I started TKD at four years of age. I was fresh in the country, and it helped me integrate myself into society and gave me confidence. I started capoeira at 19 to learn how to move my body in unorthodox ways. At 23, I took up MMA to test my lifetime of martial arts experience and put it to a real test. I still fight to this day to improve my overall martial arts skill and ability and to represent Ecuador in a high-level competition.

What ranks and titles have you held? 4th degree black belt in TKD, Instructor cord (belt/certificate) in capoeira, Ryan Hall brown belt

Do you have any heroes? My grandfather and father. They emigrated from their homelands into the unknown for a better future for their families and worked endlessly every day to provide.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? The UFC is an opportunity to test myself against world class fighters and learn to become an even better martial artist. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime and I am honored to compete in the UFC and represent my flag.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Loyola University New Orleans, bachelor’s in accounting with a focus in auditing.

What was your job before you started fighting? I was an auditor and then a business banker.

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? RMMA featherweight and bantamweight champion

Specific accomplishments in pro competition? #1 contender in FURY FC but never fought for the title since I went to compete on season 31 of the Ultimate Fighter
