Thomas GerbasiThe road to UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva will get a little more interesting on February 2nd, as two key 185-pound matchups have been added to UFC 81: Breaking Point at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
In main card action, which will air live on pay-per-view beginning at 10pm ET / 7pm PT, Ricardo ‘Cachorrao’ Almeida returns to the UFC for the first time since 2002 to battle rising star Alan ‘The Talent’ Belcher. Since his last Octagon appearance at UFC 35, Almeida went on to great success in Japan, scoring wins over Nate Marquardt, Ryo Chonan, and Kazuo Misaka, among others before walking away from the sport in 2004. He will return to active competition against a tough competitor in Belcher, who is coming off back to back wins over Sean Salmon and Kalib Starnes.
In undercard middleweight action, hard-hitting Marvin Eastman drops to the 185-pound weight class and will get a stern test in knockout artist Terry Martin. This battle of middleweight bangers has Fight of the Night written all over it, and the winner will make a huge statement in the division.
In addition to the aforementioned bouts, an evenly matched lightweight bout between up and comers Tyson Griffin and Gleison Tibau has been added to the main card, and the UFC 81 undercard has been bolstered by a light heavyweight match between Tomasz Drwal and David Heat and a lightweight contest between Keita Nakamura and Rob Emerson.
The featured bouts on UFC 81: Breaking Point will see Antonio Rodrigo ‘Minotauro’ Nogueira battle Tim Sylvia for the interim UFC Heavyweight Title, and Brock Lesnar making his UFC debut against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir. Tickets are on sale now.
