UFC Working in the Quebec Community

UFC Community Works™ makes financial contribution to Grands Frères Grandes Sœurs de Québec

UFC® STEPS INTO THE CORNER OF BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF QUEBEC THROUGH UFC COMMUNITY WORKS

Toronto, Canada – The Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) is pleased to support Grands Frères Grandes Sœurs de Québec through its UFC Community Works™ program for The Ultimate Fighter® Nations Finale: Bisping vs. Kennedy. Grands Frères Grandes Sœurs de Québec is leading child and youth mentoring by facilitating life-changing relationships that inspire and empower children and youth to reach their potential, both as individuals and citizens.

On April 13, Tom Wright, UFC® Managing Director, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, presented a financial contribution to representatives from Grands Frères Grandes Sœurs de Québec during UFC Experience, a free day for fans at Place Fleur de Lys with open workouts, interactive activities and guest appearances. “Organizations like Grands Frères Grandes Sœurs de Québec are vitally important to help youth develop self-esteem, engage in physical activity and feel the support of a mentor. Everyone needs to have someone in their corner,” said Wright.

Participants from Grands Frères Grandes Sœurs de Québec took part in a Q&A to highlight the importance of mentorship and the value of the program. They also participated in a special mixed martial arts session led by renown trainer and head coach of Montreal’s Tristar Gym, Firas Zahabi, with UFC fighters Rory MacDonald, Francis Carmont and Rory MacDonald, and two-time Olympic gold medallist Kaillie Humphries. Humphries earned her second straight Olympic gold medal in bobsleigh in Sochi in February 2014 and served as Canadian flag bearer for the closing ceremonies along with brakeman Heather Moyse.

The UFC Community Works™ program is designed to make meaningful contributions to the Canadian communities where UFC events are held. On April 16, the UFC will host its first-ever event in Quebec City with The Ultimate Fighter® Nations Finale at the Colisée Pepsi and is pleased to support Grands Frères Grandes Sœurs de Québec as its initiative.

The Quebec Finale is the first of five Canadian events on the UFC’s schedule in 2014 as the UFC is also set to visit Vancouver on June 14, Toronto on September 27, Halifax on October 4 and Montreal on December 6.
