Following an entertaining collection of fights to open the night at the new and improved Meta APEX, the main card action on Saturday’s card took things to another level.
A trio of Dana White’s Contender Series grads showed out to kick things off before Brazilian veteran Diego Ferreira claimed a dominant win over Billy Quarantillo and Quillan Salkilld closed out the show with a brilliant performance against Mateusz Gamrot in his first main event assignment.

Quillan Salkilld continued his electric run inside the Octagon in his first main event, submitting Mateusz Gamrot in the first round.
The surging Australian stung Gamrot with a left hook early in the round, forcing the Polish veteran to panic wrestle and hunt for a leg lock. Salkilld defended well and went on the offensive on the canvas, out-wrestling Gamrot and clamping onto the neck in a transition late in the opening stanza.
That’s now three first-round finishes this year and five in six UFC starts for the streaking Perth man. The 26-year-old is clearly a dangerous man in the lightweight division and is now firmly in the conversation at the top of the weight class after just two years on the roster.
Diego Ferreira picked up an impressive decision win in Saturday’s lightweight co-main event, outworking the returning Billy Quarantillo to earn his first win in more than two years.
Ferreira dominated the action in the first, battering Quarantillo with a steady diet of strikes, landing the most significant strikes in a round of his career in the opening five minutes before upping the output and connections in the second. The ever-game Quarantillo continued trying to press forward and land, finding some success of his own in every frame, but Ferreira was still the more effective in the third and did well to avoid any late rally from the returning American.
All three judges scored the fight in favor of Ferreira, who picked up his 11th victory inside the Octagon and 20t career win overall. He’s a little older and no longer ranked, but the Texas-based Brazilian showed he still has plenty left to offer in this one.
Yadier del Valle ended Darren Elkins’ UFC career in a hurry, hurting the veteran almost immediately and halting the action with a left hand down the pipe that halted the action.
The Contender Series grad shut down an immediate takedown attempt and landed a knee to the head of Elkins before the separated, clocking him with a short left hook that left him wobbled on the break. From there, del Valle immediate fired of another left that landed clean and sent the veteran crashing to the canvas.
This was a blistering return to the win column for “The Cuban Problem” after suffering the first loss of his career back in February at home in Houston. For Elkins, it’s an unfortunate end to an incredible UFC career that began in 2010 and produced 19 victories inside the Octagon.
Alexia Thainara and Amanda Lemos paired off for a terrific all-Brazilian strawweight battle in the middle of Saturday’s main card.
Thainara showcased a little more of her arsenal for the first time, trading and hurting Lemos at different points throughout the contest while still utilizing the grappling skills she’d displayed in her first three outings. But Lemos had big moments of her own, cracking Thainara with a right hand that put her on shaky legs in the second and connecting with good efficiency throughout.
The judges were called upon to determine the victor and all three saw things the same, awarding Thainara the biggest win of her career thus far. The Contender Series grad is now 4-0 inside the Octagon and pushed her winning streak to a baker’s dozen, likely claiming a spot in the Top 10 in the process by toppling the former title challenger.
Ty Miller continued to make immediate waves in the welterweight division, securing a second consecutive stoppage win, finishing Billy Ray Goff seconds into the third round to kick off Saturday’s main card.
Goff tried to clinch and grapple in the early going, but Miller did well to defend and make the Connecticut native pay for his effort, seizing the momentum in the second half of the opening frame and never allowing his fellow Contender Series grad to work back into the fight. In the second, Miller battered Goff throughout, punishing the exhausted welterweight before putting him away with the first series of punches he landed to start the third.
Just a brilliant showing for the unbeaten New Mexico native, who advanced to 8-0 with one no contest with his second stoppage win of the year. The 26-year-old has a ton of promise and is polished beyond his years, making him one of the more intriguing up-and-comers in the 170-pound weight class at the moment.
