The UFC’s return to Vancouver produced another raucous night at Rogers Arena, as the six-fight main card elevated the intensity following an all-action preliminary slate, with four of the five Canadian athletes registering victories and the packed house getting treated to a series of impressive finishes and competitive fights.
Business kicked off Kyle Nelson registering a unanimous decision win that initially appeared to be a first-round stoppage before Charles Jourdain wrapped up his second straight submission win since moving to bantamweight by tapping out Davey Grant. Manon Fiorot rebounded from her title loss to Valentina Shevchenko by running through Jasmine Jasudavicius , ending the hopes of a Canadian main card sweep. Aiemann Zahabi followed by extending his winning streak to seven with a hard-fought split decision win over Marlon Vera, with Mike Malott closing out a 5-2 night for the home team with a unanimous decision victory over Kevin Holland.
And in the main event, Brendan Allen halted Reinier de Ridder’s run of success, out-grappling the Dutch standout to register his second win of the year and establish himself as an interesting secondary character in the middleweight ranks.
It was another fun night in the Lower Mainland, and you can check out how everything transpired in our recaps below.

De Ridder controlled the first with his grappling, keeping Allen stapled to the canvas for most of the frame, but from there, “All In” was the dictating the terms of engagement and controlling things on the ground. In the corner following the fourth round, de Ridder’s corner halted the fight, bringing the night to an unceremonious end.
Regardless of the anticlimactic feel to the finish, this a statement win for Allen, who started the year with a loss to Anthony Hernandez, but has quickly put himself back in the title conversation with back-to-back wins over Marvin Vettori and now de Ridder. The Louisiana native has always been a talent, and now it looks like he’s starting to put it all together, sending shockwaves through the 185-pound rankings in the process.
Mike Malott defeats Kevin Holland by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

The first round was competitive for the first four minutes before a second inadvertent low blow from Malott caused a five-minute pause in the action. Holland was hesitant on the restart and slow out of the corner before the second, where Malott landed the better shots. Tight through the first three minutes of the third, the Canadian put Holland on the deck with an elevated takedown, where he worked to top position, chased an arm-triangle choke, and kept his American counterpart from being able to rally.
When the scorecards were collected and totaled, it was Malott that came out ahead, earning a clean sweep of the scorecards. That’s now three straight wins for the leader of the Maple Leaf Militia, who could find himself in the rankings when they update next week.
Aiemann Zahabi defeats Marlon Vera by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Both the first and third rounds were close and competitive, with Zahabi landing greater volume and Vera packing a little more pop. The only decisive round was the second, where Vera knocked the French-Canadian down and had him backpedaling. Zahabi recovered and came on in the closing moments of the round before the two battled it out tooth-and-nail in the third, leaving things to the judges to settle.
In the end, it was the first that decided things, with Zahabi getting the nod on two of the three scorecards, with Vera taking the second and the Canadian the third on all three cards. That’s now seven straight wins for Zahabi, the second most by a Canadian male fighter, trailing only the great Georges St-Pierre.

A left hand down the middle in one of the early exchanges shook Jasudavicius’ equilibrium, leaving her on rubber legs and opening the door for Fiorot to pounce. She quickly forced her to the canvas and began unloading, prompting referee Dan Miragliotta to step in and halt the action.
This was a tremendous rebound effort for the French contender, who came up short in her bid to claim the flyweight title last time out. In turning back Jasudavicius with style points, “The Beast” reaffirms that she is still a threat in the 125-pound weight class.

The French-Canadian wrapped up his second straight submission win to begin his tenure in the 135-pound ranks, flattening Davey Grant with a beautitful jumping knee before latching onto a nasty power guillotine that forced the British veteran to tap straight away.
After an entertaining, but inconsistent run at featherweight, the 29-year-old from Quebec has now turned in consecutive jaw-dropping efforts since dropping down a division, and is definitely one to watch going forward in the bantamweight division.
Kyle Nelson defeats Matt Frevola by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

After a largely competitive first, Nelson stung Frevola late and it appeared that the fight was stopped, only for the bout to continue. Nelson was able to steel himself and remain in control of the fight for the majority, stinging Frevola in a couple different instances en route to collecting a unanimous decision win.
“The Monster” had the shift to lightweight ahead of this one and looked the best he had in several fights on Saturday, maintaining his pace and output while physically looking the part of a full-fledged 155-pound fighter. Great win for the Canadian, who has now won four of his last five.
