UFC® rides into Regina on May 23-24 and partners with Big Brothers of Regina through UFC Community Works™ program
Toronto, Canada – The Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) is bringing the UFC Experience to four communities across the country this summer in conjunction with its UFC Community Works™ program. Along with live events in Quebec City, Vancouver, Toronto, Halifax and Montreal, the UFC Experience Tour will visit Regina, Saskatchewan on May 23-24, Kelowna, British Columbia on July 4-5, Lethbridge, Alberta on August 1-2 and London, Ontario on August 29-30 to showcase the fastest growing sports organization in the world.
The tour will include a one-day UFC Community Works™ event that will give back to the community and support a local organization. The second day will educate, energize and engage fans on the sport of mixed martial arts and the UFC. It features a fun and interactive fan zone offering fans a chance to pose with a UFC championship belt. Spectators can also test their fitness skills with a punch strength machine, vertical jump test, pull-up bar and push-up station, and enjoy autograph sessions with UFC fighters. It will also include an exclusive viewing party that evening of a global pay-per-view event.
UFC Community Works™ is designed to make meaningful contributions to the Canadian communities where UFC events are held. For our first UFC Experience Tour stop in Regina, the UFC is pleased to support Big Brothers of Regina as its initiative. Big Brothers of Regina is leading the way in facilitating quality mentoring relationships that inspire and empower children and youth to reach their potential, both as individuals and citizens.
On May 23, UFC athletes will help lead a mixed martial arts demonstration at Complete Martial Arts and Fitness for Big and Little Brothers and participate in a Q&A session on mentorship. The UFC will also present a financial contribution to representatives from Big Brothers of Regina. “Organizations like Big Brothers of Regina are fostering life-changing relationships built on friendship, trust and mutual respect,” said Tom Wright, UFC Managing Director, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. “These relationships will help youth develop self-esteem, participate in physical activity and feel the support of a mentor. Everyone needs to have someone in their corner.”
Ash Noureldin, Executive Director, Big Brothers of Regina, stated, “We are delighted to be partnering with the Ultimate Fighting Championship through this UFC Experience initiative. The UFC is well known to foster values such as hard work, discipline and of course, mentorship. We are humbled that they have chosen to be in our corner for the Regina tour kick off.”
On May 24, UFC Experience will take over Victoria Park in downtown Regina from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. MT. UFC has also partnered with the Regina Farmer’s Market, SaskTel, Harvard Radio and Xyience. The evening will culminate with an exclusive viewing party of UFC® 173: BARAO vs. DILLASHAW at 4Seasons Sports Palace from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. MT where fighters will interact with fans, sign autographs and analyze the fights throughout the night.
