In the main event, all-conquering UFC BJJ welterweight champion Andrew Tackett showcased his dominance with another first-round finish, while in the co-main event, Canada’s Brianna Ste-Marie added the UFC BJJ women’s featherweight title to her growing list of accolades with an impressive finish of her own.

The event also saw a grand prix tournament for the inaugural UFC BJJ women’s flyweight title, as Australia’s Adele Fornarino and Brazil’s reigning bantamweight champion Cassia Moura both advanced to a future showdown for the inaugural women’s 125-pound crown.

Main Event: UFC BJJ Welterweight Title Match - Andrew Tackett defeats Jonnatas Gracie via submission (face crank) – Round 1, 1:44

In the main event of the evening, reigning welterweight champion Andrew Tackett made short work of Jonnatas Gracie as he defended his 170-pound title for the fourth time, then called out a host of big names, including UFC contenders Sean Brady and Paddy Pimblett.

Tackett immediately shot in and drove Gracie into the mat, then instantly snatched up the Brazilian’s neck as he looked to move his way clear. Gracie escaped, then attempted to attack a leg, but Tackett defended smartly, then resumed his attack.

The champion took Gracie’s back and locked up a rear-naked choke that went across Gracie’s jaw, rather than underneath it. It took a couple of adjustments to exert the maximum amount of pressure, but once Tackett had his technique fully adjusted, it left Gracie in such pain that he had no option but to tap.

Co-Main Event: UFC BJJ Women’s Featherweight Title Match - Brianna Ste-Marie defeats Rebeca Lima via submission (arm-triangle choke) – Round 2, 1:57

Four months after her original title fight booking fell by the wayside due to injury, Brianna Ste-Marie finally got her shot at a UFC BJJ title, and she made it count with a crowd-pleasing submission finish of defending women’s featherweight champion Rebeca Lima.

The action went to the mat immediately as Lima pulled guard and went in search of a leg, but Ste-Marie avoided the danger and moved to half-guard, and went on the attack in search of an arm-triangle choke setup.

Lima took advantage of a stray leg and attempted to lock up a kneebar, but Ste-Marie managed to stack herself on top of the Brazilian to avoid the danger. Then, as the round entered its final 30 seconds, she dropped for a leg lock attempt of her own, but was unable to make it count before the round came to a close.

Women's Flyweight - Cassia Moura defeats Bre Stikk via submission (armbar) – Round 1, 4:31

Reigning women’s bantamweight champion Cassia Moura moved one step closer to becoming the first-ever two-division UFC BJJ champion when she submitted Bre Stikk in the first round of their flyweight championship grand prix semi-final.

Moura went to her go-to technique early as she used her hugely effective arm-drag to take Stikk to the canvas, then swiftly moved to Stikk’s back.

With both hooks in and her opponent unable to escape, Moura worked hard for an opening, while Stikk defended doggedly to avoid the submission. Moura eventually moved her way into mount, but Stikk quickly escaped. However, the match didn’t stay standing long as Moura sent Stikk to the floor, once again with an arm-drag.

Women's Flyweight - Adele Fornarino defeats Carol Brunacio (straight ankle lock) – Round 1, 2:53

Australian contender Adele Fornarino showcased her brand of well-rounded, aggressive, attacking jiu-jitsu as she submitted Brazil’s Carol Brunacio to advance to the final of the women’s flyweight championship grand prix.

Brunacio opened up quickly and immediately went for a leg. But, despite the Brazilian’s high-energy start, Fornarino stayed remarkably calm as she stayed out of danger, then looked to turn the tables on her opponent with an armbar, then a leg lock attempt, but Brunacio did well to escape both predicaments.

Middleweight - William Tackett defeats Fedor Nikolov via submission (heel hook) – Round 2, 2:13

William Tackett made it two heel-hook finishes in successive UFC BJJ appearances as he submitted 10th Planet St. Petersburg’s Fedor Nikolov in the second round, then called for another shot at the middleweight title

Tackett wasted no time in getting the action to the mat as he shot in for a powerful takedown in the opening seconds, then went on the attack from top position.

Working from Nikolov’s rubber guard, Tackett passed the Russian’s guard and settled into side control before the action returned to the feet. The action didn’t stay standing for long, though, as Tackett immediately took Nikolov back to the canvas. Nikolov seemingly had nothing for Tackett off his back from an offensive standpoint, but his stubborn defense gradually forced the pace to slow as the round wore on.

Bantamweight - Jalen Fonacier defeats Mourece Ramirez via unanimous decision

After earning three of the four fastest finishes in UFC BJJ history, Jalen Fonacier had to work much harder for his victory this time around, but the result remained the same as he claimed another impressive victory inside the Bowl with a unanimous decision win over Mourece Ramirez.

Fonacier went on the attack immediately as he went to the mat and went straight after Ramirez’s legs, but Ramirez stayed light on his feet and did well to stay out of any serious trouble.

Fonacier continued his pursuit as he worked for another leg lock and forced Ramirez to roll a couple of times to avoid the submission and put himself in a slightly safer position. Fonacier maintained control of Ramirez’s left leg, however, and when Ramirez attempted to escape, Fonacier reacted instantly to take his opponent’s back.

Once he had established a dominant position on Ramirez’s back, Fonacier locked up a rear-naked choke and applied the pressure, but Ramirez held on to survive the hold, and the round.

Middleweight - Vagner Rocha defeats Andy Varela via submission (crescent choke) – Round 3, 2:06

Brazilian veteran Vagner Rocha battled head-to-head with Andy Varela, before eventually claiming an impressive submission victory via third-round crescent choke.

Rocha and Varela jockeyed for position early, and heavy forward pressure from Varela nearly forced Rocha out of the Bowl, drawing a broad grin from the Brazilian veteran. Then Varela took an accidental thumb to the eye that paused the action for a brief injury timeout.

When the action resumed, the pair wrestled as they locked up and looked to score a decisive takedown. And, with neither man keen to pull guard, the two wily competitors canceled each other out. It seemed both men had the same tactic – to wear the other out – as they dueled through the remainder of the round, with no real breakthrough for either man.

Women's Strawweight - Danielle Kelly defeats Ana Lima via unanimous decision

In the opening match of the night, Danielle Kelly marked her first appearance inside the UFC BJJ Bowl with an impressive unanimous decision victory over Brazil’s Ana Lima in their strawweight matchup.

The action went to the mat as soon as the grapplers hit the center of the Bowl as Lima immediately went to her back, and Kelly followed her, but very nearly found herself in trouble when Lima came close to locking up a razor lock that Kelly did well to escape from.

Lima stayed active from her guard as Kelly looked to switch targets and a change of position gave the Texas native the chance to attack a leg, but Lima stayed compact and ensured Kelly had no room to extend the leg and turn the attack into a submission attempt.

Lima continued to attack the arms of Kelly, who very nearly caught the Brazilian in an armbar of her own in the closing seconds of the round.
