LONDON, June 6 – Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes calls it his comeback fight, and even though he will be doing it at a catchweight of 174 pounds after his UFC 85 opponent, Thiago Alves, didn’t make weight today at the O2 Arena, he believes a win over ‘The Pitbull’ Saturday night will be the first step on his road back to the 170-pound crown.

“This is a comeback fight,” said Hughes, a two-time welter champion who weighed in at 170 pounds Friday. “I’m very happy to fight an up and comer like Thiago. If I beat him he’s someone I can put on my resume for down the road.”

“Tomorrow night is gonna be a war,” said Alves, 174. “You’re gonna see the best ‘Pitbull’ ever and I’m gonna knock him out.”
