In the fourth, Makhachev returned to leaning on his wrestling, taking the challenger down multiple times and staying stuck to him throughout, though Machado Garry landed the better strikes throughout. In the fifth, Makhachev was able to put “The Future” on the canvas and take his back, securing the position and remaining there for the remainder of the contest.

When the scorecards were collected and tallied, it was Makhachev that came out ahead, earning his 17th straight UFC win while becoming only the fifth two-division champion to earn successful title defenses in both divisions. This was a solid performance in defeat the challenger Machado Garry, who falls to 17-2 with the loss, but showed that he can hang with the pound-for-pound best in the world.

The champion dominated on the canvas in the first, pitching a shutout against Robertson before controlling the action in the second as well. The challenger started to have a little more success in the third but could not muster the force to really deter Dern, who took her back down early in the fourth, controlling the action until the final 10 seconds before Robertson finally secured a takedown and worked from top position for the whole of the fifth to avoid getting completely blown out.

Dern swept the scorecards to earn her fourth straight win and retain her title, but it was a bout that ended with her on bottom and being controlled for the final five minutes, which isn’t the optics you want as champion. The big question now is what comes next for the Brazilian jiu jitsu standout, who has a number of title hopefuls queuing up behind her, ready for their chance to claim (or re-claim?) UFC gold.

Turner pressed forward and brought the fight to Kauê Fernandes, closing the distance and hurting the Brazilian after an ill-timed spinning backfist attempt. A left hand put Fernandes on the canvas, and the follow-up blows came quick and precise, bringing about the stoppage.

That’s consecutive first-round stoppage wins for “The Tarantula,” who remains an all-action dynamo in the lightweight division. He’s been ranked before and could be again after blowing through Fernandes and maintaining his 100-percent finishing rate on Saturday.

The always game Lancaster County product took control midway through the first round, leaning into his wrestling and grappling to put Abdul-Malik on the canvas and control him through to the horn. After a back-and-forth start to the second, Stoltzfus hurt Abdul-Malik as the two exchanged along the fence, creating the opening for the Season 4 graduate from Dana White’s Contender Series to drag the fight back to the canvas, where he locked up the fight-ending guillotine choke.

This was an outstanding performance from the veteran Stoltzfus, whose record has never reflected his mettle and toughness inside the Octagon. Fighting in his home state for the first time in his career, the 34-year-old made the absolute most of it while collecting his fourth UFC victory.

Ribovics crowded the long-tenured striker from the outset, getting inside his kicking range and sticking him with a steady diet of punches, hurting him multiple times and leaving Barboza with a gnarly wound on his right shin at the end of the first. From there, Ribovics just stayed on the gas and piled up the punishment, forcing the stoppage without putting Barboza on the canvas.

This was a terrific performance from the always entertaining Argentinian, who took the fight to Barboza straight away and earned the biggest name brand win of his career. Following the contest, Barboza took off his gloves and laid them in the center of the cage, bringing a halt to a 16-year UFC career that will be remembered for the highlight reel finishes and incredible strength of schedule Barboza fought.
