Dvalishvili is one of the most elite wrestlers in the sport, and giving Dvalishvili clean entries to the legs will make it difficult for Yan to stay on the offensive. Yan was able to avoid getting pinned in bad positions in the first fight, but spent significant portions of the fight trying to get back to distance, which was taxing on Yan’s gas tank. Dvalishvili also did an impressive job blending his striking and grappling together to land cleaner strikes, as initiating takedown attempts frequently results in a defensive reaction that exposes the head for strikes. Dvalishvili’s elite cardio took over as the fight went on and Dvalishvili was able to exert a faster pace in the later rounds.
It’s difficult to see this fight go much differently. Dvalishvili’s wrestling and pace will likely be too much for Yan to handle, and Dvalishvili is positioned well to cover the -9.5 alternate point spread by racking up points on the judges’ scorecards and winning a comfortable decision.
