"MEXICO CITY -- All right. Let's try this again.
"Seven months after the UFC staged its first live event in Mexico (unfortunately, minus one injured Cain Velasquez), the promotion returns on Saturday with a heavyweight title unification bout between Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum at UFC 188.
"Velasquez (13-1) is coming off the longest layoff of his professional career -- a 602-day stretch, during which the UFC crowned Werdum (19-5-1) interim champion.
"The 37-year-old Werdum has won eight of his last nine fights, dating back to late 2008, when he was released by the UFC following a first-round knockout loss to Junior dos Santos. The Brazilian, who trains out of Kings MMA in Los Angeles, has five finishes since that loss, including submission wins against Fedor Emelianenko and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
