Hardy got the better of the action with her long-range striking in the opening round, bloodying the nose of Aldrich, who only had brief moments of success when able to grapple with her foe against the fence. There was more of the same in the second, but Aldrich responded with a knockdown in the third. Hardy immediately sought out a triangle choke from her back, but Aldrich got out of trouble with two minutes left and kept the fight there until only seconds remained in the closely contested bout.

Charles Johnson defeats Jake Hadley by unanimous decision

Charles Johnson made his hometown fans happy in his flyweight bout with Jake Hadley, as he took a unanimous decision win.

Johnson, now 15-6, took the nod via identical scores of 29-28. Hadley falls to 10-3.

Hadley put the pressure on from the outset, mixing up his attacks while Johnson took a while to get into the fight. By the end of the first, though, the local favorite got busier and more effective.

In the second, Johnson responded to instructions from his corner by getting more aggressive, and with under a minute left, a right hand put Hadley on the canvas. The Brit recovered quickly and locked Johnson up as they rose, but the damage had been done on the scorecards.

The fast pace of the first two frames slowed the action in the third, and it was tight throughout before a final burst of action in the final seconds.

Trey Waters (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) defeats Billy Ray Goff by unanimous decision

Welterweight prospects Trey Waters and Billy Ray Goff set the Fight of the Night bar high, trading haymakers for most of their three-rounder until the judges returned a unanimous verdict for Florida’s Waters.

Scores were 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 for Waters, now 9-1. Goff falls to 9-3.

Goff did his best to nullify Waters’ height and reach advantages by pushing forward, but Waters repeatedly tagged him on the way in. Goff did secure a couple takedowns once he did get inside, but he also ate a knee to the head while downed, bringing no response from referee Josh Stewart. When the two rose, Goff and Waters traded with abandon to the horn, each getting jarred with return fire in the process.

Trey Waters Post-Fight Interview | UFC St. Louis

The pace didn’t dip in the second, with each fighter getting their licks in, but as the round progressed, it appeared that Goff had more gas left in the tank. Waters refused to back down, though, and with a minute left, he sunk in a standing guillotine that produced some dicey moments for Goff before more back-and-forth action in the final seconds.

Goff bulled Waters into the fence early in the third and looked for a takedown, but after a lull in the action, Stewart restarted the fight with a little over two minutes left. The pair then patiently picked their shots until the final 30 seconds, when the slugging resumed, each trying to end the fight with one shot.

Tabatha Ricci (29-28, 29-28) defeats Tecia Pennington (29-28) by split decision

In strawweight action, Tabatha Ricci spoiled the return of Tecia Pennington via split decision.

Scores were 29-28, 29-28 and 28-29 for Ricci, now 10-2. Pennington, fighting for the first time since April of 2022, falls to 13-7.

Tabatha Ricci Post-Fight Interview | UFC St. Louis
/

Showing no signs of ring rust, Pennington was fast and busy with her strikes in the opening stanza, staying a step ahead of Ricci until a takedown by the Brazilian with four seconds left in the round. Buoyed by her late-round success, Ricci went all-in for the takedown in the second, but Torres’s defense was rock solid, and she remained upright, allowing her to ultimately break free and get back to her striking attack in the final minute.

Ricci’s aggressive approach to the takedown fell short again after a long spell against the fence, and at distance, it was Pennington’s speed working in her favor. Ricci was not backing down, but Pennington used her aggression against her, with two throws to the mat being the result as the seconds wound down.

Esteban Ribovics defeats Terrance McKinney by KO at 1:35 of Round 1

Chase Hooper Submits Viacheslav Borshchev | UFC St. Louis
/

As a submission specialist, Hooper (14-3-1) wanted the fight on the mat, and he got his wish when a left hand dropped Borshchev (7-4-1) in the opening minute. Hooper fired off a series of ground strikes, but Borshchev hung tough and ultimately got his bearings back. But Hooper stayed busy and worked for a submission on the mat for the rest of the frame.
