See The Fight Results, Watch Post-Fight Interviews With The Prelim Winners And More From UFC 318: Holloway vs Poirier 3, Live From Smoothie King Center In New Orleans, Louisiana

UFC 318 was a non-stop thrill at Smoothie King Center on Saturday, with each of the first six fights on the prelims ending inside the distance and several athletes making loud statements in the shores of “The Mighty Mississippi.”

Louisiana native Carli Judice opened the show in style, finishing Nicolle Caliari in the third round before a run of five straight fights ended in the first round. Brunno Ferreira, Ryan Spann, and Jimmy Crute all collected submissions, while newcomers Islam Dulatov and Ateba Gautier dispatched their respective foes with strikes. The final three fights all went the distance, but they were all thoroughly entertaining and highly competitive, as Nikolay Veretennikov, local boy Brendan Allen and “Lok Dog” Vinicius Oliveira all got their hands raised.

This was a perfect appetizer for the forthcoming main card, and if the five remaining fights are anything like these nine, it’s going to be a special night at Smoothie King Center.

Phillips started extremely well, clipping Oliveira in the opening minute of the bout, causing the Brazilian to look to wrestle. But once he cleared the cobwebs, Oliveira’s constant pressure and thudding power shifted the direction of the fight in his favor, as he returned the favor by hurting Phillips in the second and lined the better blows for much of the third.

“Lok Dog” scored two impressive wins in his rookie campaign last year and has now repeated that feat in his sophomore campaign. The Dana White’s Contender Series grad continues to inch forward in the 135-pound weight class and remains a captivating enigma on the fringes of the Top 10.

“All In” took the fight to Vettori out of the gate, busting him up early in the opening round. While the Italian veteran had positive moments in the back half of the frame and sporadically throughout the contest, it was Allen that consistently landed the more telling, impactful blows over the course of the three-round affair.

All three judges saw the fight in favor of Allen, who snapped a two-fight skid with the victory, simultaneously handing Vettori a three consecutive setback. Set to turn 30 in December, Allen has been a fixture in the rankings for the last couple years and likely earned his way back into the Top 10 with this victory on Saturday night.

Nikolay Veretennikov defeats Francisco Prado by split decision (28-29, 29-29, 29-28)

Nikolay Veretennikov and Francisco Prado were the first tandem to go the distance on Saturday night, with the welterweights combining for an all-action battle.

Veretennikov was sharp and technical to start, hurting Prado when he slammed his way out of an armbar attempt before continuing to string together good strikes on the feet. But Prado survived and worked his way back into the fight, doing well when the duo hit the canvas and as Veretennikov’s gas tank started to wane.

When the scorecards were collected and tallied, it was Veretenniko that came out ahead, earning his first UFC victory in three appearances. This was an ultra-competitive battle and a classic example of why it’s so difficult to compete and thrive at this level.

Ateba Gautier Post-Fight Interview | UFC 318
/

The recent DWCS graduate rolled in New Orleans and rolled through Robert Valentin, stinging the recent TUF finalist early in the first round and never letting him get his footing back. Gautier patiently picked his shots, constantly connecting with power, before finally forcing the finish with Valentin crumpled on the canvas.

Just 23 years old, Gautier has now earned consecutive first-round stoppage wins in each of his 2025 starts, pushing his winning streak to seven in the process. The Manchester Top Team product looks like a wrecking machine right now, and while the competition is going to get stiffer, “The Silent Assassin” looks like a future threat in the 185-pound ranks as he continues to gain experience and improve.

Islam Dulatov Post-Fight Interview | UFC 318
/

The recent Dana White’s Contender Series graduate made a splash in his promotional debut in New Orleans, stopping durable veteran Adam Fugitt in the first round. Throughout the contest, Dulatov got the better of the striking exchanges, utilizing his length, and late in the opening round, he dropped Fugitt with a left hook and then levelled a couple laser-sighted bombs to seal the deal.

Just an outstanding debut effort from the talented, and streaking 26-year-old welterweight, who has now earned a dozen consecutive wins, all by stoppage. Dulatov looks like the genuine article, so be sure to keep tabs on his progress going forward.

Jimmy Crute defeats Marcin Prachnio by submission (armbar) at 4:42 of Round 1

Welcome back to the win column, Jimmy Crute!

The Australian light heavyweight picked up his first win since 2020 in his second bout following a brief hiatus, adjusting in order to lock up an armbar finish over Marcin Prachnio. Crute set up the initial attack nicely, but Prachnio defended well, forcing “The Brute” to keep shifting until he finally bent the elbow in an uncomfortable direction and drew out the tap.

Crute was a rising star in the 205-pound ranks earlier in his career, but an extended slide and an unhealthy obsession with the sport prompted him to press pause on his career a couple years back. Now, he’s back and he’s back in the win column after flashing the skills that still make him an intriguing figure in the division going forward.

Ryan Spann Post-Fight Interview | UFC 318

“Superman” put the Polish heavyweight on his back right in front of his corner team early in the fight, initially looking for an arm-triangle choke that he wasn’t able to finish. But he patiently stayed on the attack, chasing the arm-triangle again before catching Brzeski with his signature “Superman-otine” as he tried to get to his feet.

This was an outstanding effort from the Fortis MMA representative, who has always been a well-rounded talent with elite finishing instincts. Focus has always been the issue, and if he can stay locked in every time out, the 33-year-old could be a factor in the heavyweight division.

Brunno Ferreira defeats Jackson McVey by submission (armbar) at 3:35 of Round 1

As soon as he got the American newcomer to the canvas, Ferreira got to work, staying tight and transitioning his way into position to attack the arm. As soon as he extended, McVey was dead to rights and forced to tap.

After earning his UFC contract and first three victories inside the Octagon by stoppages due to strikes, that’s now back-to-back submission wins for the 32-year-old. Ferreira is now 5-2 in the, 14-2 overall, and still owns a 100 percent finishing rate, making him must-see TV in the middleweight division.

Carli Judice Post-Fight Interview | UFC 318
/

The Lafayette, Louisiana native Judice flashed her trademark striking from the outset, picking apart and punishing Caliari with an assortment of attacks. While the Brazilian did her best to respond, Judice was a step ahead the entire way, and early in the third, she finally connected flush with the step-in knee she’d used throughout the fight, attacking the body and dropping Caliari.

After landing on the wrong end of split decision verdicts in each of her first two UFC appearances, Judice has now earned consecutive victories while establishing herself as a long-range prospect to track. Her striking and footwork give her an excellent base, and as she continues to garner more experience, the 26-year-old could grow into an even more intriguing action fighter in the flyweight division.
