Back in Shanghai for the first time since November 2017, the action inside the Octagon gave the appreciative and vocal crowd at Shanghai Indoor Stadium plenty to cheer about and enjoy on the preliminary card slate.
Things kicked off with just the fifth Ezekiel choke in UFC history courtesy of Uran Satybaldiev, followed by a spirited three-round tussle between SuYoung You and Xiao Long. Three of the next four fights ended in spectacular fashion, as Yi Zha, Kyle Daukaus, and Charles Johnson all scored knockout wins, with Rongzhu and Austin Hubbard engaging in a quality lightweight battle mixed in there as well.
And in the final bout of Saturday’s opening collection, Gauge Young and Maheshate went back and forth over 15 minutes, with the American coming out ahead on the scorecards and collecting his first UFC win.
It was a fun start to the day in Shanghai, and we have the details of what transpired collected for you below.
