See The Fight Results, Watch Post-Fight Interviews With The Prelim Winners And More From UFC Fight Night: Walker vs Zhang, Live From Shanghai Indoor Stadium On August 23, 2025

Back in Shanghai for the first time since November 2017, the action inside the Octagon gave the appreciative and vocal crowd at Shanghai Indoor Stadium plenty to cheer about and enjoy on the preliminary card slate.

Things kicked off with just the fifth Ezekiel choke in UFC history courtesy of Uran Satybaldiev, followed by a spirited three-round tussle between SuYoung You and Xiao Long. Three of the next four fights ended in spectacular fashion, as Yi Zha, Kyle Daukaus, and Charles Johnson all scored knockout wins, with Rongzhu and Austin Hubbard engaging in a quality lightweight battle mixed in there as well.

And in the final bout of Saturday’s opening collection, Gauge Young and Maheshate went back and forth over 15 minutes, with the American coming out ahead on the scorecards and collecting his first UFC win.

It was a fun start to the day in Shanghai, and we have the details of what transpired collected for you below.

Kavanagh started well, taking the fight to Johnson throughout the first and showcasing more of his game in the early moments of the second as well. Yizha Post-Fight Interview | UFC Shanghai
/

A two-time Road to UFC tournament finalist and Season 2 tournament winner, this was a breakout performance for the 28-year-old Yi. After suffering a decision loss to Gabriel Santos in his promotional debut last time out, this was one of the most impressive rebound wins in recent memory and an emotional moment for the talented Chinese featherweight.

SuYoung You defeats Xiao Long by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Road to UFC bantamweight tournament winner SuYoung You pushed his winning streak to five with a technical, sharp decision victory over local favorite Xiao Long early in Saturday’s fight card.

The South Korean was the more active and effective fighter through the first two rounds, landing at a much better clip while avoiding much of what was coming back his way. Long tried to rally as he did last time out, throwing nothing but elbows down the stretch, but You did his best to respond and work to the end of the bout.
