Piccininni Looking To Punch His Ticket To The UFC | UFC FIGHT PASS

After Silencing “Spoon-Fed Wrestler” Allegations From His Last Opponent, Fury FC 92 Headliner Nick Piccininni Is Looking To Make A Statement

If the past year has been any indication, wrestlers dominate the sport of MMA. From Richie Lewis taking the LFA Lightweight Championship last week to Austin O’Connor’s viral performance, wrestling has been as dominant as ever.

2024 UFC Fight Pass Fighter to Watch Nick Piccininni has used his background to turn himself from an elite collegiate wrestler into a UFC prospect. While the wrestling is undoubtedly the most dangerous aspect of Piccininni’s game, development in other disciplines is what makes the Oklahoma State Cowboy must-see television.

“As I progress more and more in the sport, everyday I’m turning more into a mixed martial artist,” Piccininni said. “I know who I am and what made me, but everyday I’m more of a mixed martial artist in all aspects of the game. That’s the thing with me, I always evolve. I’m always evolving and I’m a student of the sport. I’m looking to get better, I’m looking to perform at the highest level and keep one-upping myself each time I’m out there in all aspects whether it’s striking, grappling, or anything.”

Piccininni’s next matchup will see him facing off with an experienced Jomar Pa-ac, a bout that has potential to put Piccininni into the next phase of his MMA career.

“I’m shooting for the best possible thing for myself and what I’m in control of is my performance,” Piccininni explained. “I have to go and perform and that’s what we’ll see. I’m just going to go out and do what I do and try to finish these fights. That’s what I do, I finish fights and that’s going to speak for itself. My actions will take over and it will put me in a position to showcase my skills on a higher stage.”

While a wrestling background would be easy to lean on, Piccininni is no boring fighter. If an undefeated record with three first-round finishes are any indication, action is always the motto and sometimes even “action” isn’t enough for the rising star.

“I’m trying to hurt these dudes,” Piccininni said. “I’m trying to knock them out. If I can knock them out by throwing ground and pound, I’m going to do that. I’m trying to finish this fight and if it takes me being malicious with the ground and pound then I’m going to do that.”

A wrestler so willing to develop a striking skillset is terrifying for anyone on the regional scene. Piccininni will headline Fury FC 92 looking to show off a rounded skillset to take that next step in his career.

“I know that at my weight at 125, you have to do everything,” Piccininni explained. “You can’t just go ahead and do one thing so I'm just taking the time and getting better at everything; not skipping steps and learning the right technique and ways to fight with the skillsets I have. Just taking my time and learning the game, learning the ins and outs of mixed martial arts.”

Being a true student of the game makes Piccininni not only entertaining, but truly dangerous for anyone willing to sign on the dotted line to get into the cage with him.

With a UFC call-up on the back of the mind, Piccininni is all business heading to Houston this Sunday.

“Right now it’s business as usual,” Piccininni said. “I know there’s steps to the game. I’m not too overzealous about anything but right now it’s just business for me. I know at some point in time it’s going to have to be switched up, but I’m pretty business oriented. I’m trying to get what I want to get.”

If all goes as the wrestling community believes it will, Piccininni will come out of Fury FC 92 with another bullet point on a fight resume that could very well get him that nod for Contender Series.
