With Mairbek Taisumov forced to withdraw from his UFC 203 bout against Nik Lentz on September 10, Iowa's Michael McBride will step up on short notice to face "The Carny" in the three-round lightweight bout.
In the main event of UFC 203, which takes place at Quicken Loans Arena, hometown hero Stipe Miocic defends his UFC heavyweight title for the first time against Alistair Overeem.
Sporting a four-fight winning streak that has seen him end each victory by submission, McBride has won eight of his nine pro bouts thus far, proving himself to be a top prospect. Next weekend, he will get his first shot in the big show against Lentz, who made a successful return to 155 pounds in December when he defeated Danny Castillo.
