Kevin Holland Returns Against Kyle Daukaus On October 2

The "Trailblazer" Returns To Face A Philadelphian Up-And-Comer at UFC FIght Night: Santos vs Walker

All-action, fast-talking middleweight Kevin Holland returns to action on October 2 as he takes on a rising contender from Philadelphia in Kyle Daukaus at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Walker.

The fight is Holland’s first since dropping a pair of main events in the span of three weeks against Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori, respectively. Previously, Holland was one of the fighters of 2020, earning five wins in the span of seven months. Along the way, he picked up four knockouts and three Performance of the Night bonuses. After his back-to-back losses, he is hoping to get back on track in his third fight of 2021.

His opponent, Daukaus, returns after dropping a hard-fought decision against Phil Hawes in May. The fight will be Daukaus’ fourth since making his promotional debut in June 2020. He and his brother, heavyweight prospect Chris Daukaus, have picked up a positive reputation since joining the promotion, and Holland is the biggest test of his career yet.

It's a fight that could launch Daukaus into the rankings, an opportunity of which he is keenly aware.

“It’s important for me to make a statement in every single fight that I have but especially this one because he has a number next to his name,” Daukaus told UFC.com. “He’s a good opponent, a game opponent He comes to fight every single time. He likes to talk when he’s in there, so I look forward to seeing what he has to say.”

The two have a combined 25 finishes to their record, and both will want to turn things around and get back into the winner’s circle. Knowing the frequency with which Holland wants to fight, it could also open the door to getting back to .500 on the year if he can get his hand raised on October 2.
