With Chris Weidman already defending his UFC middleweight title against Luke Rockhold on December 12 in Las Vegas, the next man to challenge the winner may be determined that same night, as the UFC 194 card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena will see number two-ranked Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza face off with the third-ranked contender at 185 pounds, Yoel "Soldier of God" Romero.
UFC 194 is headlined by the long-awaited featherweight title bout between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor.
A former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Brazil's Souza has won eight straight, with five of those wins coming in the UFC's Octagon. Cuba's Romero is an Olympic Silver medalist in freestyle wrestling who is unbeaten in six UFC bouts, and in his most recent bout, he knocked out Lyoto Machida in the third round.
