With The Ultimate Fighter Season 32 coming to a close, the latest content update for EA Sports UFC 5 is headlined by the release of all new The Ultimate Fighter Alter Egos.
To get the full scope of this collection of Alter Egos, we revisit the first ever The Ultimate Fighter Finale, where Forrest Griffin took on Stephan Bonnar in a light heavyweight bout that would award the winner with a UFC contract. Over the course of three rounds, Griffin and Bonnar left it all in the Octagon, delivering a back-and-forth classic. In the end, Griffin ended up winning a 29-28 unanimous decision in what many call one of the greatest fights in UFC history. Both fighters earned UFC contracts after displaying immense courage and determination. Griffin would go on to have an extremely successful career and even reach the pinnacle in 2008, when he became the UFC light heavyweight champion.
The Ultimate Fighter 1 also included the middleweight division, where Diego Sanchez would take on Kenny Florian in the season finale, with a UFC contract up for grabs. The bout was scheduled for three rounds, but ended in the first, with Sanchez picking up the victory via first round TKO. To celebrate the history of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, along with one of the most iconic fights in UFC history, Alter Egos for both Griffin and Sanchez have been added to UFC 5.
The Ultimate Fighter 2 was headlined by heavyweights and welterweights all competing for the coveted UFC contract. The heavyweight finale featured a bout between Rashad Evans and Brad Imes, both coming off decision victories in the semi-finals. In the first round, Evans floored Imes with a flurry of punches, but Imes was able to recover. After two more close rounds, the judges scored the bout a split decision victory in favor of Rashad Evans – crowning him the first heavyweight Ultimate Fighter. Evans would go on to have a remarkable UFC career, and after moving down to the light heavyweight division he was able capture the UFC light heavyweight championship in 2008. To acknowledge Rashad’s memorable rise in the UFC, he has been added as an Alter Ego in UFC 5.
