Cowboy vs. Khabib set for UFC 178

Khabib Nurmagomedov asked for the "Cowboy," and UFC matchmaker Joe Silva heard his plea. The undefeated Russian will face Donald Cerrone, fresh off his fourth-straight win inside the Octagon, at UFC 178 in Las Vegas on Sept. 27.

Cerrone won in impressive fashion against Miller Wednesday night, landing a highlight reel kick to the head to become the first fighter to stop Miller by KO or TKO. Nurmagomedov has won all six of his fights in the UFC, the latest coming against Rafael dos Anjos by unanimous decision at UFC on FOX: Werdum vs. Browne in April.

UFC 178 is shaping up to be an epic launch to the Fall, with UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones set to face off against No. 1 contender Alexander Gustafsson in the sequel to their UFC 165 classic. Many have argued that Gustafsson should have earned the win by decision, and the rematch may be the most anticipated fight this year in the UFC.
