Chip Moraza-Pollard Is Bringing His A Game | UFC Fight Pass

Chip Moraza-Pollard Doesn't Care What's On the Line, He's Motivated To Bring His Best At Lion Fight 67.

With his sights set on an eighth straight title defense, is it possible we’re watching Chip Moraza-Pollard become Lion Fight’s Anderson Silva?

After establishing himself as a mixed martial artist, Moraza-Pollard spent time in multiple organizations, even finishing Dan Lauzon at CES 30 back in 2015 before having a change of heart.

Pollard wanted the best, got the best and became the best.

“I really love Muay Thai,” Moraza-Pollard said. “The history, the culture of the sport, everything about it. I like that at Lion Fight they fly in the best guys from all around the world. I’m not even fighting guys from the States anymore and I haven’t for a while now. I get to fight people from Europe, I fought the number one guy in the world from the UK, I fought in London, I fought a former champion from Thailand, a bunch of other countries, too. Just being able to do that and test myself against the best guys in the world in my weight class helps keep me motivated and interested.”

Quickly thrust into the title picture, the Plymouth, MA native hit the ground running and never looked back.

Often training and sparring with UFC FIGHT PASS KO of the Year frontrunner, Steven Walker, Moraza-Pollard may not be the biggest finisher in the sport, but he can certainly hold his own with people who are.

At 33 years old, Moraza-Pollard still has plenty of prime fighting years ahead of him, but will the allure of title defenses somehow wear off? Will the proverbial silk sheets become too comfortable?

“I don’t think so. It’s a big deal for me, no matter what’s on the line,” Moraza-Pollard said. “Whether it’s the first fight in the promotion or you’re the eight-time champion, you’ve got a fight on your hands. You’re fighting the best guys in the world, so you better bring your A game and you better be motivated or else you’re going to get beat up. It doesn’t matter where the fight is or what’s at stake, I’m a fighter, so no matter what, I’m going to bring my A game.”
