Following his gutsy effort against Urijah Faber at UFC 175 on July 5, Alex "Bruce Leroy" Caceres will now replace the injured "California Kid" in a UFC Fight Night bout on September 20 against Octagon newcomer Masanori Kanehara.
The bantamweight battle will take place at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
An Ultimate Fighter season 12 alumnus, Caceres was unbeaten in five straight before the loss to Faber, and he hopes to start a new streak against the 31-year-old Kanehara, a seasoned vet who has won six of his last seven en route to his first UFC bout in September.
