Following the recent court injunction keeping Quinton "Rampage" Jackson from competing against Fabio Maldonado at UFC 186 in Montreal, the UFC has announced that local light heavyweight Steve Bosse will step in to face Brazil's Maldonado at Bell Centre on April 25.
A former hockey player, Bosse decided to put the gloves on in mixed martial arts, and after turning pro in 2007, he found his true sporting passion, winning 10 of 11 fights thus far. Included on his resume are victories over UFC vets Wes Sims, Marvin Eastman and Houston Alexander, and he will bring an eight-fight winning streak into the Octagon in his hometown of Montreal when he faces Maldonado, a crowd-pleasing striker who is 4-1 in his last five bouts.
At the moment, Jackson and his representatives plan to appeal the court’s order, but with the event drawing nearer, the UFC has had to take action to ensure a suitable replacement was found to face Maldonado.
