When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training after watching Strikeforce and UFC in high school. The first UFC PPV I begged my Dad to buy was Anderson vs. Forrest Griffin and BJ Penn vs Diego Sanchez. I was hooked instantly.

Any accomplishments in amateur combat sports? Peak Middleweight Champion

Any belts/ranks in grappling disciplines? Brown belt BJJ

What has been your toughest fight to date and why? My toughest fight to date was against Cody Brundage.

Who is your favorite fighter and why? My favorite fighter of all time is Fedor. However, my current favorite fighter is Alex Pereira. Both of these guys always look for the finish. Neither tries to win by points.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? No, just a public-school kid. Although I did graduate in the top 40 of my class (class size: 50 students).

What was your job before you started fighting? I work as a Well Tester in the Oil field. 90-hour weeks away from home. I work out before work and sometimes after work to maintain a base level of fitness, but this schedule allows me to take months off straight to be a full-time fighter.

Personal life/ background: I live in the small town of Shiner, Texas with my wife and two girls, River and Roan. As of now, my only real hobbies are training and spending time with family.
