When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training judo as a child in Cuba. When I was 17, I moved to Mexico. I started training jiu-jitsu and fell in love with this martial art. I came to the USA when I was 19 and here, I continued to pursue my dreams of one day reaching the UFC.
What professional titles have you held? I don't have professional titles, but I have given the former Fury FC champion his first defeat. Also, before being called up for the Contender Series, I was preparing to fight for the Fury FC 145 lbs title.
Any accomplishments in amateur combat sports? 4-0 Amateur
Any belts/ ranks in grappling disciplines? Black Belt in jiu-jitsu under Professor Ulpiano Malachias / Brown Belt in Judo
Who is your favorite fighter and why? My favorite fighter at this moment is Ilia Topuria. I see him as a very complete fighter with excellent striking.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I left school in grade 10 to be able to train. I didn't like school, so I decided to spend my time on sports.
What was your job before you started fighting? My first job was when I arrived in Mexico. I worked as a bartender in a restaurant when I was 17 years old.
Personal Life / Background: I fight to change the future of my family, I have a small business, a food truck where I make a living selling pizzas and Cuban food with my wife. Thanks to the support that she gives me along with my parents, I have the time I need to train. My daily routine every day is I wake up early, I go to my business, I prepare the pizza dough, then I go to train at 10 am until 12, then I go back to work until 8 pm. When I get home, I go to the gym to do physical preparation, and that's how busy my life is while I pursue this dream of being in the UFC. I have two elderly parents who can no longer work, and one of my greatest achievements would be to be able to provide for them and for them not to have to worry about looking for money because for that I will be knocking out and submitting my opponents making good money in the UFC.
