When and why did you start training for fighting? I started fighting in ‘09. I’ve always loved competing in sports and I’ve always loved the thrill of the fight.

What ranks and titles have you held? Former UFC middleweight champion, Super Fight Australia Welterweight belt. TUF Smashes welterweight winner

Who is your favorite fighter and why? Gotta love the Brazilian strikers right now Prates and Ruffy. Exciting guys with show stopping striking ability.

Do you have any heroes outside of fighting? Cliff Young, Dan Gable.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? For me to fight in the UFC is the biggest honor and privilege in my fighting career. It is a way to provide for my family whilst doing the sport that I love most. It also allows me to show the world my fighting ability.

What fight do you consider to be the key fight in your career and why? Winning the Middleweight title against Yoel Romero.

Ranks in any martial arts styles: BJJ black belt 1st degree, Hapkido black belt, karate black belt.

Is there a cause that you want to use your platform for? Be a good role model for my kids and everyone else. I want to influence people to be better.

Beyond a championship or money, what motivates you? My family.

What was your job before you started fighting? I worked as an apprentice electrician for Railcorp.

Favorite grappling technique: Ground and Pound

Favorite Striking technique: The one that lands. 

Tell us about your life outside of fighting: I'm a family man, 6 kids, wife. Spend a lot of time with them and my friends. Enjoy reading and video games also.

What is one thing that you want UFC fans around the world to know about you? I'm not perfect but that drives me to be better every day.
