When and why did you start training for fighting? I started MMA when I was 14 years old. I was really overweight and my parents worried about that. So they sent me to a kickboxing class. I arrived too early to the class and I watched the adults doing MMA through a window. I was amazed by this sport. I was so surprised and asked myself how they're doing such a tough sport. It was their sparring day and they sparred with 4oz gloves. Only big, shredded, tattooed men who "fought" with small gloves. I knew then that I want to become that kind of a fighter.
What ranks and titles have you held? Actually, I started straight away with MMA. I didn't have a background.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? For me it's a dream coming true. I worked more than seven years for this moment and dedicated my youth and my life to this. Now I know the real journey to the top begins!
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I finished school with very good notes. Now I'm studying mechanical engineering at the University of Applied Science in Hamburg. Honestly, I'm only studying because I want to make my parents proud with that besides fighting. So I'm not really focusing on university right now and I only go to university after my training camp or fights for a few weeks.
What was your job before you started fighting? I'm not working because I spend my whole day with training, sleeping or recovery. A few hours a day I help my mother and father in their bakery so they can relax for some hours until I go to my next training session.
Ranks in any martial arts styles: I never look at rankings; I only focus on my improvement and my development.
