When and why did you start training for fighting? I was 22 years old and getting fat. Metabolism was slowing down and the smoking and drinking lifestyle was catching up to me.

Training: Three hours on the mats – 25 percent warm-up/conditioning, 50 percent drilling/technique, 25 percent sparring/live work. There are other days where I focus on conditioning or strength training, but the majority of my training is as described above.

What ranks and titles have you held? No. 1 bantamweight in my state and region (ammy and pro), and three ammy titles (NFC, Conflict, Impact), and one pro title (Conflict)

Do you have any heroes? Pops (Jason Faglier, my coach)

What would it mean for you to fight in the UFC? When I started training, I didn't even have plans on competing, I only wanted to get in shape. My coaches saw something in me and convinced me I could accomplish great things. My life dramatically changed outside of the gym for the better because of how much I bought into the things they were telling me. I wouldn't be here without them, and I want to make them proud and be able to say that they took a kid from the mud and built him from scratch into a UFC fighter. The contribution to my team and my city would be true fulfillment for me.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went to Georgia Southern University. I was expelled. Then, after an appeal, allowed to return under the condition of being banned from on-campus housing. The following year, I failed out. Needless to say, I didn't obtain a degree.

What was your job before you started fighting? Pipefitter apprentice

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? Three titles, No. 1 bantamweight in my state and region

Specific accomplishments in pro competition? Received a knockout bonus from Jorge Masvidal on ikonFC and a professional title from Conflict MMA by beating Taylor Moore (Contender Series vet) in a five-round war.
