World Extreme Cagefighting® bantamweight star Miguel Angel Torres will be recognized by his hometown of East Chicago, Ind. on Friday, June 4. East Chicago city officials announced today that June 4, 2010 will serve as “Miguel Angel Torres Day” in the city, with the former 135-pound champion set to take part in various activities throughout the day.

Former Champion Recognized with ‘Miguel Angel Torres Day’ on Friday, June 4

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – World Extreme Cagefighting® bantamweight star Miguel Angel Torres will be recognized by his hometown of East Chicago, Ind. on Friday, June 4. East Chicago city officials announced today that June 4, 2010 will serve as “Miguel Angel Torres Day” in the city, with the former 135-pound champion set to take part in various activities throughout the day.

The 29-year-old Torres, a staple in the East Chicago community thanks to his work with the city’s youth, was blown away by the city’s declaration.

“East Chicago is my home and to be recognized in this capacity means a lot,” Torres said. “The city is full of hardworking people and I have done my best to represent East Chicago in a positive way.”
