Dana White on Nate Diaz: 'Where he is and where we are, we're not even close'

"MACAU – UFC President Dana White is optimistic Nate Diaz will soon return to the octagon, but discussions regarding a potential fight are still far apart, he said.
 
“'Where he is and where we are – we’re not even close,' White told MMAjunkie following UFC Fight Night 48 in Macau. 'I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’ve always liked Nate Diaz. I have a great relationship with Nate Diaz and it’s not like I don’t like the kid and he’s hard to deal with. He’s just got something in his head and we’ve got something in our head.'
 
"Diaz (17-9 MMA, 12-7 UFC) has not graced a UFC cage since a second-round knockout of Gray Maynard at the TUF 18 Finale this past November. Since then, 'The Ultimate Fighter 5' winner has attempted to negotiate for grander compensation in the form of a new contract. When he didn’t get that, Diaz requested a release from the organization.
