Faber agrees Cruz won; Doesn’t want Dillashaw fight

BOSTON

The main event at Fight Night Boston between champ TJ Dillashaw and challenger Dominick Cruz saw two judges on opposite ends of a 49-46 scorecard. Urijah Faber, who many think will get the next shot against either Dillashaw or Cruz, may have summed it up best:

“That was weird,” he said with a laugh.

Cruz won the fight by split decision as the third judge had it 48-47, and Faber agreed.

“Cruz was backing him up and getting him frustrated, then he’d fire back with four or five punches and land them. It was pretty obvious to me,” Faber said of the Cruz decision.

Dillashaw, a longtime member of Faber’s Team Alpha Male, left the camp back in October. Faber said he would have had some insight for Dillashaw on how to fight Cruz, considering he’s the lone man to ever beat the “Dominator”.

“I knew (Dillashaw’s) temper was going to be a problem, for a fact,” Faber said.

Faber said he has not received a guarantee that he will be the next man to fight Cruz. He also said he has never wanted to fight his former teammate, Dillashaw.

“I don’t want to fight TJ and I never wanted to fight TJ,” Faber said. “The way I was treated in the situation showed me I’m not one of his good friends. So I’m not going to stop my own path to greatness because of that.”
