Out of action since March of 2013, Stefan Struve will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon on Saturday, July 5, when he faces Matt Mitrione in a heavyweight bout to take place on the UFC 175 card at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Winner of four of his last five, Struve was sidelined as a precautionary measure due to the discovery of a rare heart condition, but after following doctors' treatment, he was cleared to resume his fighting career, and this summer he will meet Mitrione, who has won two of his last three, most recently a first round knockout of Shawn Jordan in March.
Also added to the UFC 175 card, which takes place during International Fight Week, is a middleweight bout between newcomer Guilherme Vasconcelos and Luke Zachrich, and a welterweight bout pitting Ildemar Alcantara vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio.
