FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, ULTIMATE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP® RISING LATINO STARS FEATURED IN ESPN DEPORTES LA REVISTA
Undefeated UFC Stars Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez
And Roger “El Matador” Huerta Rock the Pages of March Issue
(February 28, 2007) Las Vegas, NV – Two of the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) organization’s rising Latino stars and standouts for Latino fans will be featured in a remarkable six-page spread in the March 2007 issue of ESPN Deportes La Revista, which will hit newsstands today. This feature spread in the Spanish-language magazine that provides the most complete sports information for the avid U.S. Hispanic sports fan, marks the first time Huerta and Sanchez have been highlighted and the most pages ever devoted to the UFC.
“Being in ESPN Deportes La Revista is such an honor and an acknowledgement of the growing popularity of our sport. I am proud to be featured in a magazine that I enjoy and that so many of my Latino fans enjoy, too,” Huerta said.
Another first for UFC in its fourteen year history, the organization will bring the most exciting live combat sport event in the world – the UFC – to the great state of Texas. Fans can expect a showdown with the main event featuring reigning UFC World Welterweight Champion Georges “Rush” St. Pierre against The Ultimate Fighter® 4 “The Comeback” winner Matt “The Terror” Serra. Also on the card together for the first time are the two Latino standouts Huerta and Sanchez.
In a sport where there are so many ways to win and lose, the golden boy of the UFC Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez (19-0) still remains undefeated and will battle with Josh “Kos” Kosheck.
“I am extremely excited to participate in UFC 69: SHOOTOUT and represent the Latino community in the UFC which features talented fighters from all over the world. Mixed Martial Arts is gaining more excitement from Latino fans, especially in Texas, and this is an event no one will want to miss,” Sanchez said.
Roger “El Matador” Huerta, fresh off his incredible win by knockout (19 seconds) at UFC 67, will face a fighter who seeks to blemish Huerta’s perfect record. Huerta, however, has no plans to disappoint his fellow Texans.
The UFC organization will present UFC 69: SHOOTOUT live from Houston at the Toyota Center on Saturday, April 7, 2007. For more information, visit www.ufc.com.
