It’s a Heavyweight Matchup at 155 when Stevenson Faces Mishima at UFC 65

The UFC lightweight division is rapidly becoming one of the hottest in mixed martial arts, and the high quality matchups will continue on Saturday, November 18th when Joe Stevenson faces Dokonjonosuke Mishima in a highly-anticipated 155-pound bout at UFC 65.

Stevenson (30-7), the welterweight winner from season two of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ reality show, dropped to the lightweight division in July and made an immediate impact by scoring a second round stoppage of longtime contender Yves Edwards at UFC 61. In Osaka, Japan’s Mishima (17-4-2), he will be facing a Shooto, Hook N’ Shoot, and Pride veteran who has been in with the likes of Edwards, Takanori Gomi, Marcus Aurelio, and Din Thomas over the course of an eight-year MMA career. Stevenson is ready for perhaps the biggest challenge of his career.

“He’s a very tough fighter who has fought the best in the world and beaten some very good fighters,” said Stevenson of Mishima. “I plan to capitalize on his weaknesses and I have to impose my will on him before he does it to me. If I do that, I should walk away with the ‘W.’”

In addition, the UFC 65: Bad Intentions card will be rounded out by an intriguing clash between unbeaten heavyweights Jake O’Brien (8-0) and Josh Shockman (7-0).

These bouts, part of an exciting nine bout card headlined by the UFC heavyweight title match between Tim Sylvia and Jeff Monson and the UFC welterweight championship rematch between Matt Hughes and Georges St. Pierre, will air live on pay-per-view from the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California.
