Welterweights Koscheck and Taylor return for Spring Bouts

By Thomas Gerbasi

Two of the UFC’s standout welterweights will be back in action this spring, as Josh Koscheck and “Relentless” Paul Taylor put the gloves back on for important bouts on the UFC 98 and UFC 99 cards, respectively.

Koscheck, one of the busiest fighters in the game, will fight for the fourth time in seven months on May 23rd’s UFC 98 card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas against veteran Chris “The Professor” Wilson. Meanwhile, UK star Taylor will travel to Cologne, Germany for a June 13th battle at the Lanxess Arena against local favorite and UFC newcomer Peter Sobotta in UFC 99 action.

Tickets for both events are on sale now.

MBoo you should record the fight and watch the replay. It is EXACTLY what Kos did. A front-hand jab to the body is useless in a sport other than boxing.

A lot of MMA fighters through straight punches to the body. Besides, what you described sounded nothing like what actually happened.

Kos is so good at wrestling that he beat many great guys by relying only on wrestling. Like Hughes, Kos proves that an elite athlete at that level can beat other skill sets. But, Kos's striking is HORRIBLE. Paulo Thiago KO'd Kos because Kos CLOSED HIS EYES while leaning his head in to FAKE a JAB TO THE BODY (why? who jabs to the body other than a 16 oz glove boxing match?) in order to set up a SLOPPY OVERHAND LOOPING RIGHT. C'mon, that's amateur hour. Kos's KO of Yoshida only proves Yoshida is worse...a judo guy who thought he could block punches by holding his hand still in front of his face and not moving. Kos- get a better strikng coach. You're too good to waste your potential.
