Junie Browning’s Ultimate Fighter Blog – Week Seven

By Junie Allen Browning

LAWLOR AND KAPLAN
It was very entertaining to watch Lawlor and Kaplan doing their thing on this week’s episode. It was like watching ‘Jackass’. I loved it and it was probably the best night I had all season. I walked in right after Lawlor punched him and Kaplan was on the floor. It was pretty crazy, and all night Kaplan was trying to say he that he wasn’t really knocked out, but it looked like he was pretty knocked out to me, and if you look at the video, his leg was folded up underneath him. It was so funny though, and some of the cameramen went in the back and watched it like a hundred times. I’m actually glad I didn’t get to see it in the house, because we’re there for most of the stuff we see on the show, so it’s not as entertaining when we watch it. So this was really funny because I didn’t get to see it when it happened.

MORE PRANKS WITH KRZYSZTOF
I watched the whole part with Kaplan and Tom getting drunk and it was pretty entertaining, but I could barely keep my eyes open when Krzysztof was pulling his prank. And he just hassled himself because nobody was helping him bring the stuff back in. I was up that night when he was bringing all the stuff out to the basketball court, and it took two or three hours. In the confessional he was trying to say it wasn’t that big of a deal and that it was only the table that was hard – I watched him do that and it took him forever. And it wasn’t even funny. No one really laughed – everyone was sorta pissed at him. Afterwards, some people went out and grabbed a plate if they needed something, but we made him carry the majority of everything back in. For someone with a shaved head and a bunch of tattoos who looks like a biker, he’s somewhat of a dork. I have a feeling he didn’t have a whole lot of friends growing up, so this is the only way for him to draw some attention to himself.

WORKING WITH HENDO
Dan Henderson came to the gym on this episode and he worked with all of us and showed us some stuff. He mainly worked with Krzysztof because outside of the gym they actually train together on the same team, but when you’re working with a guy like that, you can’t help but pick up stuff. You get better by default with guys like Dan Henderson. And at the same time you get sorta star-struck because I never had the opportunity to meet people like that. It was pretty cool seeing somebody like that in person.

THE COACHES’ CHALLENGE
Being that he was from Brazil, we just assumed that Nogueira had played soccer before. He said in his confessional that he never played soccer before, but that’s hard to believe. He was diving for the ball, he came with kneepads and gloves, he looked like he’s been playing for a while. I’m sure he might not have played organized soccer in Brazil, but he’s played before. At least he looked like he had. And he’s not the most athletic guy, so he had to learn how to goaltend a little bit before.

To be honest, I saw no effort or attempt to block certain balls by Mir. But I’m sure Mir never played soccer before, even if he is a little more athletic. It’s like as soon as he knew what the coaches’ challenge was, he gave up then.

Mir got more annoyed with Kingsbury yelling ‘goal’ over and over. I think Mir was more focused on punching Kingsbury in the face than he was defending the goal. I can understand because Kingsbury can get annoying at times.

SOSZYNSKI VS KINGSBURY
I knew Krzysztof was gonna win it. I think Kingsbury just didn’t have the experience. He’s an athletic guy and comes from football, but I think it was a little too soon for him to be on a reality show about fighting. Maybe if it was about catching footballs or something, but this is a little bit different, and Krzysztof has had way too much experience. He caught him in an armbar and Krzysztof has no ground. Then Krzysztof gets up and is talking about ‘I got jiu-jitsu’. I know white belts that could have subbed Kingsbury. So I wasn’t too impressed by his sloppy armbar.
