Biography

TRAINING: A typical training day for me would be strength and conditioning, a striking practice and then a grappling class

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started fighting five years ago.  I began training because I missed the competition.

What ranks and titles have you held? Cage Fury Middleweight Champion; IFL Middleweight Champion

Do you have any heroes? No

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? This has been a dream of mine since I began fighting. The UFC has the best fighters in the world, and if you want to be ranked as a great fighter, you have to be fighting in the UFC.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? No

What was your job before you started fighting? Construction

Ranks in any martial arts styles: Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Favorite grappling technique: arm bar

•    Welterweight debut

•    Received his BJJ black belt in January 2010 from Renzo Gracie black belt Jamie Cruz.

•    Only pre-UFC loss is to UFC vet Mike Massenzio

•    Brother Jim made UFC debut at UFC 89 in October of 2008 against David Baron.

•    Nine wins by submission

•    Submitted Ryan McGivern in one round in May to win IFL middleweight title
