TRAINING: Every day is different. But whatever range of martial arts I am training in each day, I always pick one thing that I want to improve on. As long as I get better at a single technique every day I know I'm moving forward to where I want to go. That's all that matters to me.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training in San Diego in 2007. I was there for a few months and I came across a MMA gym. I had watched MMA for several years before this and had always wanted to train but I had never seen a gym in Ireland.
What ranks and titles have you held? Cage Contender welterweight champion and CageWarriors welterweight champion.
Do you have any heroes? Not really. I admire many people but I wouldn't say I have any heroes.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means I have I have taken another step closer to my dream. I saw myself fighting in the UFC even before I had my first fight. It is where I always wanted to be. The realization that I have even made it this far is incredible. But just fighting in the UFC is not the full realization of my dream.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Yes, I studied forensics in Dublin City University (DCU) and graduated in 2012.
What was your job before you started fighting? I started competing professionally while still in college. When I graduated I decided that I wanted to focus all my time into chasing my dream and I turned down jobs and lived with little money in order to pursue my passion and follow my dream.
