TRAINING: I work at a local gym, so I am basically around the fitness / MMA world all day long. I love it and can't get enough of it! I break up my training into a few different sessions. Each session focuses on different aspects of the game, so that way I can be the best / most well-rounded Ryan Benoit possible. I go hard at the gym all day, so I can come home and relax at night.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I started in 2007 because wrestling season ended and it was the next logical step.
What ranks and titles have you held? Three-time All-State HS wrestling champion in TX.
Do you have any heroes? Boxer Julio Cesar Chavez, wrestling legend Dan Gable, Allen Watts
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? This is the beginning of a long term plan. A mini goal has been to reach UFC level, which has the best fighters, but the next and bigger goal is to reach the top of my weight division. I am very excited for this opportunity and the ability to showcase my skills on an international stage. Zuffa is an incredible organization and it will be great to get my first taste of being an employee for them. I will make the most of this opportunity.
