TRAINING: 5:30-9:00am BJJ/Wrestling. 1:00-3:00pm Muay Thai / Boxing. 6:30-9:00pm Strength and Conditioning/Swimming/Stretching.
When and why did you start training for fighting? Funny story really. I am a dental technician by trade and I used to offer my services to make mouth guards to the gyms in my local area. I went to a MMA gym in the area and saw these guys training. It looked like fun, so I decided to join the following week. The rest is history. I also trained in the art of Judo from the age of 16 and received my national colours, i.e. I placed first in my country. I currently have a black belt in Judo.
What ranks and titles have you held? EFC Africa Heavyweight Champion 2011-2014, Muay Thai – South African Champion - 2011, Judo – National Champion
Do you have any heroes? Fedor Emelianenko, Anderson Silva, Randy Couture and of course Dana White (He is a LEGEND).
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It is a great honor for me to fight in the largest proving ground our sport has to offer – THE UFC. It is also a great honor to represent my country South Africa and continent Africa, but with that comes a heap of pressure not to disappoint and keep the loyal supporters satisfied.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I studied dental technology and heat engineering. I am a qualified dental technician and heating engineer.
What was your job before you started fighting? I owned my own dental laboratory.
