Biography

TRAINING: S&C training in the morning, MMA training in the evening. I take off Sundays but every other day is a work day. “Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a day of Peace…” seems like a pretty good rule in my opinion.

Thoughts on opponent, Ryan Bader?
I think Bader is a dangerous and formidable fighter. He obviously has stellar wrestling, but it seems to me he has really started to find his stride when it comes to striking. The intangibles of striking – rhythm, timing, distance – he seems to be getting better and better at. He really is a complete fighter and he’s been in there with some of the best for a long time. Having said all that, I’m going to take his head off. Bader won TUF, but I tried out for that show and didn’t make the cut to get onto the TV portion. I think he only won because I wasn’t on the show. This is my crack to show everyone I’m the Ultimate Fighter. Add to the fact that I collect broken arms from blocked kicks (Ryan Jimmo, Claudio Godoy, etc…) and even if he keeps his hands up he’s still getting something broken…

When and why did you start training for fighting? I wanted to find something to challenge me after college football. I started training for fun, and after my first fight I fell in love with the sport.

What ranks and titles have you held? None.

Do you have any heroes? My mother and father.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? A dream come true. Everyone aims at the top, so to finally make it here is HUGE! But I'm not done yet; I plan on making it to the top of the UFC - just wait and see!

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?
I received my bachelors degree in Sociology from the University of Tennessee.

What was your job before you started fighting?
