TRAINING: I tend to put in some strength and conditioning in the forenoon and typically work technique and sparring in the late afternoon
When and why did you start training for fighting? I stumbled upon a judo mat many years ago. From there it just progressed through BJJ, grappling, some Muay Thai and amateur fighting until I eventually turned pro in 2008. How I react in pressured and heated situations speaks volumes to who I am - that's why I fight. The Octagon is a pressure cooker and fighting is the way I explore myself.
What ranks and titles have you held? None
Do you have any heroes? Lots of 'em, especially crazy old school Japanese fighters like Sakuraba and Genki Sudo.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It's a huge opportunity to get to fight on the world’s biggest stage against the world’s best.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? No
What was your job before you started fighting? Warehouse worker
Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? 5-1 as an amateur.
