TRAINING: I train 2-3 times a day, alternating between technique, strength and conditioning and sparring sessions. Overall I’m in the gym between 12-15 times a week. I have trained as hard and as professional as I can for this fight. I have already lost a ton of weight, I’m in great shape and I feel ready to go three hard rounds.

Thoughts on opponent, Mairbek Taisumov? Even though he is just two years older than I am, he has almost twice as much professional experience – at least in MMA - and even though he never held their title, he had a great run in M-1 before he joined the UFC. He has great offensive wrestling, aggressive striking and a very underrated submission game. I won’t allow myself be lulled into a false sense of security by his unlucky last performance – he is a very good opponent with a very well-rounded game.

When and why did you start training for fighting? My dad used to be a boxer and I was just fascinated with martial arts since I was a little boy.
