Biography

TRAINING:  Either striking pad work or conditioning in the morning, and either grappling or standup sparring in the evening. 

When and why did you start training for fighting? August of 2000.   I had been a fan of the sport since 1994 when I first saw it...  I always wanted to train and when I got the opportunity, I took it on full-time.

What ranks and titles have you held?
MMA national amateur MMA champion, Gladiator Challenge lightweight champion, IFC lightweight champion, 5 time King of the Cage world lightweight champion, The Ultimate Fighter season six winner.

  Bernard Hopkins, Arturo Gatti

What is your favorite technique?
  Left hook to the body

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means everything.  My career in the UFC is my life and I won't let anything stop me from making a living in the in this sport.

What was your job before you started fighting?
  I have had many jobs growing up, most notably, I was a caretaker at an Animal Sanctuary in Pennsylvania right before I started fighting.


•    Dropped back to lightweight after a 4-0 run at 170 to win The Ultimate Fighter’s sixth season.

•    Finished all four fights on TUF6

•    Competed in the PRIDE organization, losing to Hayato ‘Mach’ Sakurai in February of 2007.

•    Has fought against UFC vets Kurt Pellegrino, Jason Von Flue, Sakurai and Laverne Clark in non-UFC action.

•    11 wins by submission, five by knockout.

•    Talented photographer

•    Bout with Neer was UFN17’s Fight of The Night

•    Won KO of the Night for win over Stevenson

•    Loss to Wiman ended in controversial fashion
