TRAINING: It starts 10am Monday to Friday: 2 hours for MMA, 2 hours for Muay Thai, 2 hours for wrestling and at night I work out in the gym.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I wore very big glasses when I was about 10 or 11 years old, and I wanted to learn to defend myself on the streets and at school from people who made fun of me and called me Besouro (beetle), which is still my nickname.
What ranks and titles have you held? OMMAC (UK) champion, number 1 ranked in Shooto Brasil, Brazilian and state Luta Livre Esportiva champion.
Do you have any heros? My father is my greatest hero. I also admire Royce Gracie; I have a lot of respect for him.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It's a dream and goal for any fighter to be in the UFC. Since I saw Royce on TV when I was a kid, I have been dreaming of being a part of this organization.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I finished high school and decided to invest my time in fighting.
What was your job before you started fighting? I was a delivery man and I have been working as a motorcycle taxi driver.
Specific accomplishments in pro competition? I have beat fighters who went on to join the UFC such as Fabricio Camoes and Luis Ramos in events in Brazil. I also beat Arni Isaksson for the OMMAC Championship.
