TRAINING: Lift about 3 times a week at EWU campus, train at Sik-Jitsu twice a day.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I started fighting as an outlet for my aggression. I’ve always been attracted to combat sports. I had my first MMA practice a little over three years ago, and have been brawling with Julianna almost every day. And going with her is great; you either stick it out and get tough, or quit.
What ranks and titles have you held? Washington State Amateur champion
Do you have any heroes? My mom, Diane Phillips. She is my major inspiration, as well as the women in MMA before that have paved the way for me to do what I love.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means a lot of things - it means I can make this a career, I can make a name for myself, and hopefully be a role model for the younger generation of female fighters.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I have an Applied Science degree and am currently at Eastern Washington University. I’m only 1 quarter away from graduating.
What was your job before you started fighting? Personal athletic trainer
Favorite grappling technique: Guillotine
Favorite striking technique: Overhand right
