TRAINING: Describing a typical week of training is easier than describing a day because each day I am doing something different. I train in New Jersey when I have a fight scheduled, and when I am off I usually train at Valor Martial Arts in Florida. For this fight, I've been usually training jiu-jitsu with my coach and corner Ricardo Almeida, doing wrestling at Elite, boxing with my coach and corner Mark Henry, Muay Thai with my Brazilian Master Anderson Franca, Strength and Conditioning with one of the best guys I know, who is Brian Blue at All Star. All of them are in New Jersey, and that has been my second home for two years. All of them make me train so hard. We have a great team with Frankie Edgar, Akira Corassani and Marlon Moraes.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I began fighting professionally in MMA in 2009, but I’ve wanted to fight my whole life.
What ranks and titles have you held? Renaissance MMA Championship, and Ring of Combat Championship
Do you have any heroes? Jesus Christ is my hero.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means a dream realized, but I don't want to just fight; I want to give a show for the UFC's fans.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? No
What was your job before you started fighting? I have always been a fighter, since I was eight years old.
