Drew FickettTRAINING: I sleep 12 hours. Wake up. Practice my piano or go to yoga. Head over to the chiropractor. Train at noon everyday for 90 minutes. Then at night I either lift or run nine minutes. I usually watch a movie or sit in the hot tub before I sleep. Try to stay off the booze on the weekends, which is a little easier now that football is over. When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training when I was 10. I first started a Hawaiian martial art known as Kajukenbo with my first karate instructor Veon McCarrol, then began wrestling and doing judo with Steve Owens (Don Frye's original trainer) my freshman year in high school in 1994. I took second in state my junior year, then began fighting in the second Rage in the Cage for Roland Sarria shortly upon graduation. After my college wrestling career was cut short due to a serious motorcycle accident, I moved up to Phoenix for two years to become a mixed martial artist. That’s where I evolved into the world class competitor that I am today.
