Biography

TRAINING: I normally train between six and seven hours a day. I try to mix it up and get it equal between grappling and striking with a few hours of strength and conditioning, but some days it leans more heavily one way or the other. When that happens I just try to make sure to get more technique time in on whatever I missed the next day.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I have been wrestling my whole life, so when I was in high school I decided I wanted to try it out. I got in my first MMA bout at 15 and have been interested ever since.

What ranks and titles have you held? RingWars MMA Amateur 185 and 205 Champion.

Do you have any heroes? U.S. troops, Crazy Horse, and Chief Red Cloud

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
I have been training for this since I was 15 and now that I finally got the call I am ready to show all the hard work that I have put in to get here.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I attended South Dakota State and graduated with a degree in Journalism.

What was your job before you started fighting? I am currently a journalist.

Specific accomplishments in pro competition?
Competed on The Ultimate Fighter 16
• Pro since 2009

• Three wins by KO, three by submission (guillotine, RNC, kimura)

• Five first round finishes

• Origin of nickname: “People call me BullDawg, like bulldog, but not quite the same. Some people think it just came from fighting and my style but I've actually had that name my whole life. Apparently my head is bigger than most people's, according to some people anyway, and when I was a baby I could barely crawl around because my jug head weighed me down and I looked like a bulldog.”
