Biography

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started training when I was a little kid. My dad was a Vale Tudo fighter in the beginning of the Vale Tudo, and he introduced me to the martial arts world.

What ranks and titles have you held?
BJJ world champ 2002 and South American judo champ. Black belt in BJJ under Ricardo Liborio. Black belt in Judo

Do you have any heroes?
I have my dad and Rodrigo Nogueira, he is my Godfather.
What is your favorite technique? I don’t have a favorite - I do every thing that I can see the opportunity for.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
That means a lot for me and my family. My dream is to become a world champion and fight against the toughest opponents, so UFC is the right place. I'm very proud to be a UFC fighter. I didn’t move all way from Brazil to play in the US. I moved here to have better training and make my dream come true.

Did you go to college, and if so, what degree did you earn?
Yes I did, but I stopped to go to the Brazilian Army and I never came back.

What was your job before you started fighting?
Training.
